The word

Volkswagen hybrid coupe

The concept is a compact coupe meant to fit between the Scirocco and the CC models and has a combined fuel efficiency of 45mph. It has a top speed of 141mph and a 0-60mph in 8.1 seconds.

Volkswagen's first hybrid model will be an SUV, coming out later in the spring. This concept, if it becomes a production model, will not see production until 2012. It is, however, a model that shows that VW is planning to do more than just a token SUV hybrid.

The hybrid NCC is a small, 4cl, 1.4L gasoline engine combined with a 20kW motor and a 7-speed gear box. The total output is about 130kW between the engine and motor.

And so ...

The car is a PHEV with the ability to drive all-electric for short distances on its 1.1kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
