Toyota and China Beginning Plug-in Hybrid Tests

In brief: Toyota and the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC) have agreed to conduct joint verification tests of the Prius plug-in hybrid in Tianjin.

Toyota and CATARC have the goal set for these verification tests to determine the adaptability and usefulness of the Prius Plug-in when sued in China. Toyota will select drivers to evaluate the vehicle during use for commuting and everyday driving while CATARC will measure fuel efficiency, charge times, drive range, and so forth.

Verification tests of the Plug-in Prius have already begun in Japan, the U.S., and France.

The Prius Plug-in is scheduled for full-scale launch in 2012.
