Opel Ampera Passes Production Milestone

In brief: The Chevy Volt for Europe, the Opel Ampera, rolled out its first pre-production model (2012 MY) in Warren, Michigan for testing and validation.

The series of pre-production models to roll out of the Warren plant will be used for testing and validation of the design as well as fine-tuning software and controls for them.

Engineers in Europe will also work on the car and begin safety and crash testing.

And so ...

The Ampera is scheduled to go on sale in Europe at the end of 2011 as a 2012 vehicle and will have roughly the same specs as the Volt.
