North American Car of the Year Awards for 2011 Announced: Volt Wins It

The 49 journalists and editors from the automotive press announced their votes this morning at the Detroit Auto Show. The contention for fans was between the all-electric Nissan Leaf and the range-extended electric Chevrolet Volt.
About 2/3 of the vehicles in the lineup for the North American Car of the Year award were hybrids or electrics, making a big statement for the industry.
Ford took the North American Truck of the Year award with the 2011 Explorer. Last year, Ford took both awards with the 2010 Fusion Hybrid and the 2010 Ford Transit Connect van.
