The word
The International Truck of the Year award goes to the vehicle considered most innovative, economical, has low emissions, and great safety, driveability and comfort. Judges are industry journalists who award points on several criteria. The Atego received 127 total points, beating the nearest competitor by 45 points.
A large part of the Atego's performance in the win comes from its BlueTec Hybrid variant, a first for both Mercedes and Europe. The Atego BlueTec Hybrid is Europe's first factory-built, series production hybrid commercial vehicle in this segment.
And so ...
The Atego is a 7.5 to 16 tonne gross vehicle weight (GVW) truck in the medium-duty sector. Mercedes-Benz is part of the Daimler Group.
