Fisker and Quantum Sign Production Supply Agreement for Karma

In brief: The range-extended Fisker Karma is due out later this year. Fisker has signed a definitive production supply agreement with Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies, who will provide the Quantum Drive for the electric power train in the Fisker.

Under the agreement, Quantum will be the exclusive supplier of the Karma's Q-Drive hybrid control systems and solar roof module. The company will receive a royalty payment for each Karma sold that uses the Q-Drive.

The agreement also leaves open the possibility of Quantum providing components and systems for future Fisker vehicles.

Currently, the mutually-funded Q-Drive system is undergoing testing and validation in anticipation of production later this year.

And so ...

Odd for Fisker to put all their eggs in one basket, but since they control a portion of Quantum's ownership of the Q-Drive, it is not surprising.
