The word

This is the third of the hybrid systems that BMW has introduced so far, the others being the X6 and the 7 Series. The ActiveHybrid 5 Series uses a similar system to the 7 Series, though with different components meant for smaller sedans.
The ActiveHybrid 5 Series uses a 40kW motor and the 535i twins-scroll turbo inline-V6 and will operate in parallel hybrid, able to drive all-electric or combined as a hybrid.
No word on the battery configuration yet, but with the drive train based mostly on the Series 7, it's likely to use the same lithium-ion batteries as well.
And so ...
A lot of very cool stuff coming to Geneva!
