The word
Axon's as-yet-unnamed vehicle is a plug-in hybrid electric supermini 2-seat hatchback with a lithium-ion battery pack and a 500cc engine that can operate on gasoline or bioethanol.

Based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, Axon Automotive is led by managing director Dr. Steve Cousins. The company has its origins with a 130 mpg Eco-M prototype vehicle based on the Caterham 7 which was built for the Shell Eco-Marathon in 2005 and 2006.

Axon brought a version of their plug-in to the 2008 Sexy Green Car Show, and they recently showcased the production version of the Axon 8080 at the Milton Keynes Science Festival.

And so ….
Axon's funding comes from both private investments and from the UK Technology Strategy Board. Their aim is to get the vehicle to UK and European markets in 2011, with full production to follow the next year.
