Make/Model: Polo GTI
The engine in the new Polo GTI is a twincharged 1.4L TSI with a 7-speed, dual-clutch transmission which gives a combined fuel consumption of 5.9L/100km (40mpg US).
The predecessor of the Polo (in an equivalent package) had a 1.8L turbo engine and consumed 7.9L/100km (30mpg US). So the reduction in fuel consumption is a whopping 25%.
This doesn't affect performance much, however, as the Polo GTI does 0-62 in 6.9 seconds and has a top speed of 142mph.
And so ...
Other VW performance and handling additions include DSG and XDS for sport performance.
