The word

Starting late next year, the only taxi cab that can be purchased for licensing in New York City will be the Nissan NV200, thanks to a new exclusivity deal penned by Nissan and New York City's Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC). The deal makes the NV200 the only allowed replacement taxi cab for a decade, starting late next year.

The deal came after the Commission tested several vehicles for fuel efficiency, emissions, and other factors. The 2.0-liter 5-cylinder NV200 beat out the competition with its low emissions and high efficiency. The fact that the company went to a lot of trouble to develop an exclusive yellow paint for the cabs didn't hurt either.

And so ...

The fact that the TLC can name a single vehicle as the only available taxi in the city is not lost on some.
