The Edge is getting a facelift, several interior changes, and the addition of the EcoBoost engine technology that Ford has designed to boost efficiency and lower emissions.
The EcoBoost system improves a base 10% increase in fuel economy and lowers emissions as well. The 2011 Edge will include options for a 3.5L (27mpg) and a 3.7L V6 "sport" engine (25mpg) and the 2.0L V4 I-4 EcoBoost (30mpg).
30mpg highway in an SUV without the addition of premium hybrid cost or shrinking the vehicle to sub-SUV size is pretty impressive.
And so ...
The age of the 30mpg SUV may be coming in, as several companies are coming out with SUVs or crossovers that are close to or better than 30mpg vehicles.
