2011 Audi A1 Finally Shows Itself - Mini Cooper, Beware
In brief: Direct competition for the BMW Mini Cooper is the first thing to come to mind when seeing the A1 - then comes the impressive 46mpg average.
Vehicle in the news
The Audi A1 is moving from concept to reality with production prototypes on the way and an ambitious 2011 release date. The car will be available in both gasoline and diesel engine options and will offer more customization options than any of the competition.
The engines offered include a 1.6L TDI (90hp, 169ft-lb), 1.2 or 1.4L gasoline TFSI (86hp, 118lb-ft or 122hp, 147lb-ft). Transmissions include a 5 speed, 6 speed, or 7 speed double-clutch (S tronic). Both gas engines offer 46mpg average.
The hatch back sits low to the ground and is only 155.5 inches long and 68.5 inches wide at 56 inches high. Ten exterior colors are available and LEDs and Xenon headlamps as well.
The interior has a vast array of options including LED lighting, several contrasting material colors, MMI, Bose audio, and lots more.
And so ...
The target market is obvious and the Mini had better beware.
