The word

The Jetta Hybrid will come to North America in 2012 followed by an all-electric cousin in 2013, the E-UP! mini.
Gasoline and diesel versions of the E-UP! will debut in Europe next year, but won't likely come to the U.S. The all-electric version, however, will be coming.
The car will have a range of about 80 miles per charge, but it won't be a speed demon (0-62mph in 11+ seconds). It will be marketed as an urban commuter.
One selling point for the car is that it can recharge from standard household 110V in only 5 hours and to 80% in less than an hour.
And so ...
Electric Golf Hatchback trial cars will probably act as the proving ground for the E-UP's drive train and those Golfs will begin appearing next year.
