Tesla Begins Hiring, New EV Plant Announcement Imminent
In brief: While Tesla CEO Elon Musk says that a deal has not been officially signed, it's near closure and the new plant, somewhere on the West Coast, will be announced soon. Meanwhile, Tesla has begun the hiring process to fill the plant with workers.

The word

The new plant will be used to build the all-in-house Tesla Model S sedan, the company's first totally in-house design and build. Much of the funding for this comes courtesy of Department of Energy loans finalized late last year.
Tesla is currently bringing on 50-60 new employees a month. Most of these are knowledgeable in engineering and vehicle product specialties and are focused on the Model S to bring it to production. Some of the employees are former BMW, Land Rover, and Toyota people.
Musk also included the tidbit that the suppliers for the Model S are "80% chosen" at this point. The company plans to put all its eggs in one or two baskets in that regard, with most of the parts coming from just a couple of OEMs.
And so ...
The new plant is likely to be in the LA area and rumors have abounded as to where, exactly, it will be.
