Siemens Putting Together Electric 100-Car Fleet

In brief: Siemens is assembling a fleet of 100 electric cars for testing by employees as part of the corporate fleet.

The word

The pilot project is being called 4-S (For Sustainelectromobility) and is focusing on the interplay between the vehicles and the power grid/infrastructure. The project hopes to test components as well as develop new business models for all parts of the equation.

The pilot project will be in three stages: infrastructure testing, drive systems, and car sharing. All will be taking place in Siemens' Munich and Erlangen (Germany) facilities.

The ultimate goal is to see how electric cars, their drive trains, and the electrical infrastructure can be managed to work together.
