Make/Model: 9-3 Electric Prototype
An unspecified number of Saab 9-3 Electrics will be rolled out in early 2011 for testing around the world, including Saab's home town of Trollhattan, Sweden. This 100% electric test fleet is part of the company's collaboration with Boston Power, who's making the batteries.
Electric propulsion systems from Electroengine and test facilities from the Swedish Energy Authority round out the deal.
The company has not said when or if the 9-3 electrics will see production for sales, but the company's target date for electrification in general is 2016.
And so ...
The test fleet will mainly be through government and private corporate fleets.
