Saab and AAM Form JV to Develop Electric AWD and Hybrid Systems

Saab and AAM logos

In brief: Saab Automobile and American Axle Manufacturing (AAM) have formed a joint venture to develop and market electric all-wheel drive and hybrid drive line systems called e-AAM Driveline Systems.

The word

Saab - AAM logos

The venture will be based in Tollhattan and begin operations on October 1st. e-AAM will develop and market electric driveline systems in a full service package which can be easily integrated into existing platforms. This minimizes the vehicle architecture changes required for many electric conversions and hybridized upgrades.

The new driveline will be featured in Saab's 9-3 ePower.

And so ...

Interesting news, though Saab and AAM aren't the first to get into this business.
