In brief: The Swiss company has made headlines in the past with previous designs and now comes again, with Protoscar showing off their latest, which will appear for the public at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
Vehicle in the news
Make/Model: Lampo 2 Manufacturer: Protoscar
The word
The Protoscar Lampo 2 is based on the General Motors Kappa platform (Pontiac Solstice, Opel GT), but the body and power train are very different from the GM cousins.
The Lampos 2 has two electric motors, one on each axle, and a large lithium-ion battery pack and stylish solar cells on the rear boot.
The total output of those motors is 408hp (472lb-ft torque) and the vehicle weighs about 3,483 pounds at the curb. It should do 0-62mph in about five seconds and tops out at 124mph.
The charging options are very innovative, with a 10 minute charge capable of giving the car 60 miles of range via an offboard DC rapid charger interface.
And so ...
The styling may not appeal to everyone, but this car is definitely both unusual and innovative. Should make quite a splash in Geneva.
