NYC braces for unveiling of Myers Motors' 2-passenger NmG

In Brief: Myers, makers of the single-occupant, all-electric NmG (No more Gas) will unveil a two-passenger model today in New York City.

The Word

Allegedly under duress from a public craving a two-passenger version of their NmG, Tallmadge, Ohio-based Myers Motors is moving forward with a plan to launch just such a vehicle, and its promised price point appears to be under $30,000, or under the price of the original single-passenger NmG.

The vehicle will have a lithium ion battery pack that grants drivers a 60-mile range, with an option to buyers to upgrade to a pack that offers a 100 mile range. The company intends to unveil the vehicle today in New York City.

According to company President Dana Myers, “While people love our zippy single-passenger model, we know that sometimes you want to take a friend along for the ride – and soon you can. Our goal is to make electric vehicles more affordable for average Americans.”

Myers is eyeing a production date of sometime in late 2010.
