Nissan Begins UK Deliveries of the Leaf

In brief: The Nissan Leaf electric car is now being delivered in the United Kingdom.

The Sales Director of Cleaner Air Solutions in Durham, Tony Whittaker, received the first of five Nissan Leaf electric cars the company is buying. Another was delivered to Smooth FM DJ Mark Goodier and electronics engineer Richard Todd in Waltham Abbey, Hertfordshire.

Nissan will continue deliveries, along with showroom test drive models, through the rest of the year. Several hundred pre-purchases were made through dealerships and will see delivery this year.

The UK is building over 10,000 charge points throughout the nation, to be completed by 2013.
