The word

Mazda Demio

Mazda has plans to use the platform of the subcompact Demio to build an in-house electric vehicle. This car will be leased in Japan beginning in spring 2012.

The car will have a driving range of about 124 miles per charge and will be targeted towards local governments and fleets.

And so ...

Mazda has thus far avoided electrification for the most part, preferring to work on their Building Block Strategy of improving existing base technologies.
