Geely Shows 4 Alt-Fuel Vehicles at Auto China 2010
In brief: Chinese research company Geely is showcasing four alternative energy vehicle concepts.
The word

The four alt-fuel vehicles are all based on the same basic platform, but use different powertrains.
The EK-1 is an electric vehicle using lead-acid batteries, giving it a 50mph top speed and a range of 50 miles.
The EK-2 is the same vehicle, but with lithium-iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries, giving it a top speed of 93mph and a range of about 112 miles. It recharges many times faster than the EK-1 as well.
The EC7 is a serial plug-in vehicle with LiFePO4 batteries and a 1.0L engine as a range extender. It has an all-electric range of 37 miles.
The EC8 is a parallel configuration using a 2.4L engine to facilitate dual-mode hybrid propulsion.
And so ...
Both the EC7 and EC8 include an intelligent stop-start system for fuel economy. The vehicles are meant to be modular in design, allowing the factory to swap powertrains easily.
