Fuji Heavy Industries To Suspend Stella EV?

In brief: Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI) has ended production of their minivehicles line, which may include the Stella EV.

Officially, no announcement has been made beyond the minivehicles line ending, but The Japan Times is reporting that the Stella EV, introduced in 2009 for corporate fleets, may be going Dodo.

Fuji makes Subaru brand cars and is apparently planning to nix all very small (mini) vehicles in production around 2012. This would, it seems, include the Stella EV, which is targeted to sell only 400 units by the end of next year.

Sometime next year, FIH is said to be planning the launch of a plug-in gas-electric hybrid in collaboration with the company's top shareholder, Toyota.

And so ...

Interesting times, but the Stella EV was never expected to be spectacular in technology or sales.
