In brief: Freightliner Customer Chassis Corp (FCCC), Enova Systems, and Tesla Motors have joined forces to put together a medium-duty, all-electric walk-in delivery van and have debuted the working chassis and van at the National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA) Work Truck Show in St. Louis, Missouri.

The word

The chassis is domestically-engineered and completely all-electric. FCCC developed the chassis in partnership with Enova Systems and Tesla Motors.
The chassis started as an MT-45 medium-duty truck chassis (GVR of 14,000-19,500 pounds) to which Enova added their 120kW electric drive system and batteries from Tesla Motors.
The li-ion batteries will power the truck up to 100 miles per charge (6-8 hour charge time). Freightliner expects to have commercial walk-in vans (WIV) with the new Enova electric-drive on the market by the first quarter of 2011.

And so ...
This will add to the line of alt-fuel chassis that FCCC has marketed over the past few years, including a CNG, hybrid-electric, and others.
