Former Chrysler CEO Tom LaSorda Joins Electrovaya

In brief: The former CEO of Chrysler, Tom LaSorda, has joined the Board of Directors at battery manufacturer Electrovaya.

The former CEO will also be a special, strategic adviser to Electrovaya's current CEO, Sankar DasGupta.

With more than 30 years of automotive experience, the lithium-ion battery maker, which is placing itself to lead in plug-in vehicle supply, LaSorda brings a lot to the table for the OEM provider.

LaSorda's 30 years at Chrysler include stints as Vice Chairman of Chrysler LLC, President and CEO of Chrysler Group, and Chief Operating Officer of the same as well as a member of the DaimlerChrysler Board of Management.

Electrovaya will be Chrysler's sole provider of 12kWh li-ion packs for the 140 units of Ram hybrids to be built as demonstrators for a Department of Energy product.

Likely Electrovaya hopes the move will make their partnership with Chrysler solidify into something more permanent.
