Ford Transic Connect Electric Starts German Field Test

For the next trials, the Transit Connect Electric vehicles in the test will join others already on the road in an ongoing 15-month, multi-stakeholder trial in the City of Cologne with the RheinEnergie AG and University of Duisburg-Essen. The project will evaluate the daily, real-world use of electric commercial vehicles in an urban environment.

The University of Duisburg-Essen is providing scientific support and knowledge for the project and will be building scaled-up simulations based on the data collected during the trials. These will be used to estimate usage in the North-Rhine Westphalia region.

Ford is also putting Transit Connect Electrics through their paces in the UK under a similar project there.
