In the agreement, Mercedes-Benz will supply at least ten Vito E-CELL electric vans for use by Europcar, the leading car rental company in Europe. The vans will be used for customer trials in Hamburg and Paris starting this year.
The Vito E-CELL is produced on the same production line as its petrol and diesel counterparts. The Vito E-CELL was introduced last year.
The electric van rentals will be part of Europcar's Environmental Agency, which opened in Paris in 1999 and features fuel efficient, hybrid and electric vehicles. The company was also the first European company to develop and Environmental Charter that allows measurable goal tracking towards environmental awareness and sustainability.
Mercedes-Benz will service and warranty the electrics on behalf of Europcar.
