The word

Sprinter

The delivery and maintenance van market is hot world-wide and so far, the Ford Transit and Daimler's Sprinter (formerly sold in the U.S. as a Dodge brand) are both topping the market.

Ford has a limited-availability version of its Ford Transit in electric, which will be available in North America by 2011.

Daimler has announced that their popular Sprinter van will be available as an all-electric delivery vehicle within the next two years as well.

Delivery and maintenance vans of this sort are popular electric conversions because of their shorter range needs and the better power and performance given by electric drive trains.

And so ...

Daimler has not given much information on the new van yet, but this announcement means that the market for commercial vehicles might be where it's at in the next couple of years as the consumer market warms to the idea of electrics.
