The word

Four engine choices will be offered, two TSI gasoline and two TDI diesels. Each are up to 21% more efficient than the older ones they replace. The vans will also feature a start-stop feature and battery regeneration.
The most popular engine option in Europe is the 140 PS TDI, which now gets 43mpg (US, 5.5L/100km) while the more powerful 170 PS comes standard with a dual clutch gearbox (DSG optional on the 140).
The TSI offerings include a 150 PS and 200 PS with optional DSG and with built-in start-stop as well. All four engines match Euro-5 requirements.
The rest of the new vans have been redesigned as well. They are lighter weight yet have improved aerodynamics and a larger size.
And so ...
The first of the new Sharan MPVs will launch in Germany in August and then roll out across Europe. No word on whether the U.S. will see any of them.
