Mitsubishi Fuso unveiled the truck in a ceremony in Tokyo, Japan. The new generation of this extremely popular work truck will be available for Japanese sales immediately and worldwide export markets in 2011.
The Canter now meets all of the Japan Long-Term Emissions Regulations (JP09), which were finalized in 2010 to go into effect in 2015. It's one of the first trucks to do so in the Japanese market.
The Fuso uses a Fuso 4P10 diesel engine with standard engine brake (lowering braking costs by up to 20%) and Duonic dual-clutch transmission. The Duonic is an automatic transmission that acts as a standard, using air pressure to shift gears rather than a synchro-mesh. This reduces weight and thus fuel consumption.
