The Word

At a Washington DC press conference this morning, William Santana Li, Chairman and CEO of Carbon Motors, makers of the first purpose-built patrol vehicle, announced that Carbon has entered into a technology partnership with BMW Group.

Flanked by US Senator Richard Lugar (R-IN), Indiana Secretary of Commerce E. Mitchell Roob Jr., and BMW executive board member Ian Robertson, Santana Li said that BMW will supply in excess of 240,000 6-cylinder diesel engines to Carbon for installation in the company's E7 patrol vehicle, scheduled to go into production in 2012.

The deal is estimated to be worth around a billion euro.

And so …

Carbon has been moving towards production of their patrol vehicle with extraordinary precision and this is yet another big step towards legitimacy.
