Vehicle in the news
Make/Model: "The Gasser"
Manufacturer: WJ Daytech/AFVTech
The hot rod is meant to show how CNG can be used in daily vehicles and in fun ways. It features a naturally-aspirated CNG LS-7 GM Crate Engine built by Bob Santinoli with Riolo Racing. The 6-speed auto-transmission is from TCI and features steering-mounted paddle shifters.
Overall, the CNG Hot Rod puts out over 600bhp, with a 0-60 time of only 2.5 seconds and a 0-100 time of less than 5 seconds. At the same time, the car is expected to have an emissions target of EPA bin 3, but results are pending testing.
The car features electric steering and coolant pumping, an axle-mounted (rather than engine-mounted) alternator and a full suite of electronics.
And so ...
Despite all of its refinements and muscles, the car still has a range of over 200 miles.
