Daimler and Europcar Launching Car2Go in 2011
The word
The car2go mobility concept is a car sharing program that has been launched in many areas world wide, including Austin, Texas and Ulm, Germany. The Hamburg-based system will be in partnership with Europcar and will begin with 300 Smart ForTwo electric cars from Daimler.
The sharing program will be called car2go Hamburg with Europcar holding a 75% share. Unlike Austin and Ulm, the Hamburg launch will be a full-scale launch, not a pilot program.
The Hamburg program will be followed by an upgrade of the Ulm project, replacing the current 200 ForTwo cars with 300 car2go edition Smarts.
And so ...
Both the Ulm and Austin programs have been a success with more than 30,000 customers between them and 430,000 rentals combined.Photo credits: Daimler
