EDV Technologies Dashboard X Prize

In brief: The Automotive X Prize continues with side contests such as the Dash+ competition for high schools where students and classes competed nationally to win a prize for the best future dashboard design. The winner was EDV Technologies designed by the Dos Pueblos HS in Goleta, CA.

EDV TechnologiesThe dashboard, dubbed EDV Technologies, won the competition after over 10,000 online votes for best design were made. A panel put together by the Department of Energy chose finalists from dozens of entries from around the country and from those, public voting online chose the winners.

EDV is short for El Diseno Verdes included a mentor (Kevin Shantz) and three students, aged 15 and 16 from Dos Pueblos High School in Goleta, California. The students, Jake Moghtader, Nikhil Shinday, and Kevin Noronha, will travel with their mentor to Detroit later next month to pitch their design to automotive industry representatives and meet X Prize teams.

The winning dash's design includes tech and rewards for green driving behavior and those reward points can be used for trade-in on a new car, discounts on parts, and more. The dashboard collects driving information and shows the driver how to improve their eco-friendliness behind the wheel and can be shared with friends to create green driving competitions.
