So many hybrids these days

Look at the mpgs. For most of them the numbers are really not that much higher. So where are the savings?

We live in such a "hype"oriented culture.

The question is if people will waste time with hybrids. Other cars like the Tesla and the Air Car make much more sense and are affordable.

Tesla is also a hype car, but at least it goes the whole way to pure electric. Why do people have to waste time with half measures. It seems like hybrids just cloud the issue of moving forward. I guess people are just scared of taking the plunge and being completely carbon free.

Sarah, hype is good if it gets us as a society to where we need to be. Look at Obama. There was hype and now we finally have a black president. Of course there are detractors, but I think it is a positive and not negative phenomenon.

Great point Greg. We should be fine with hype if it is used to awaken the masses to a better alternative. Like harnessing a special tool that although it is noisy can save lives or perform its job in a more efficient way.
