Electric Car Conversion Kits

Has anyone ever taken a car and converted to electric with some of the conversion kits out there? What is the deal with that? How much does it cost? Is it for real?

More and more people are beginning to realize that alternative energy is really plain easy to integrate. When will the powers at be admit that their oil empire is finished. I guess when they run out of money:)
