Cost of Oil

I saw a speech yesterday from 2000 on how bush felt that the Clinton Energy policy had failed because oil had reached $31 a barrel. I am not a political person at all but isn't it absurd that we are over $100 a barrel. I realize there are many factors that come into play here but it is worth noting that we need alternatives.
