Solar Cars Are Becoming Real: Meet the Fiat Phylla

Fiat PhyllaJust when you thought you've seen it all, in swoops Fiat. Now I was just as surprised as you: Fiat is making an alternative energy vehicle? The answer is yes and it is pretty cool.

The Fiat Phylla may not be the prettiest car with its appearance bringing up memories more closely linked to Tron rather than a sedan. Never the less there are some cool innovations. The Phylla uses solar cells to power its ion battery, which in turn powers 4 individual electric motors (one for each wheel).

It may not have the fastest pick up, but it does get up to 85 mph. Fiat has just put itself back on the map in a big way!
