Prius Blocked in India

The Prius, which has been what I have called the best marketing gimmick in the world will not make it into the Indian market. The reason is simple: the Indian export tax prevents it from being affordable in India.

I believe this is a good thing. I have long argued that the Prius breeds complacency since its owners feel that they have no more to worry about While those that have yet to buy one, see that the major car companies are in fact providing solutions (which they are not).

The great thing about the Prius being blocked in India is that it allows for what I have felt to be a real alternative to prosper and grow and that is the Air Car. The Air Car is designed by MDI of France and assembled in India by Tata. It is affordable and efficient. Hopefully this will dim a little of that hype that Toyota has made for itself.
