Honda Shifts to Compacts and Hybrids

Due to the economic deterioration, Honda has decided to shift its focus from projects like its new diesel cars to compacts and hybrids.

Honda's year end end of year CEO Speech reads as follows:
"Honda recognizes hybrid technologies as the most realistic path for CO2 reduction at this moment. To effectively utilize fixed resources, Honda believes it is most important to focus all of our energy on hybrids and achieve mass market penetration as soon as possible."

Honda's approach shows why they are far ahead in weathering the global economic meltdown as opposed to the Big 3. According to Honda's CEO they are moving away from expensive metals for car manufacturing and not only focusing on Hybrids, but on electric motorcycles as well. They are anticipating future consumer trends and reading the signals clearly. Honda will be a car company to look towards for the future.
