Ford Seeks to Lead in Hybrids

Whether it's just a PR stunt or an earnest pledge, Ford's stated desire to attain a leading role in the world of hybrids is notable. What interest me is that Ford, like other industry elders, has begun to see that its future rests with alternative propulsion; the masses are yearning for a different sort of car so it might be best to give it to them.

Ford's new CEO Alan Mulally clearly senses a seismic cultural and social shift in the U.S. and globally. Perhaps his time at Boeing honed his present instincts. Whatever the reason, let's see if Ford can come through on it's stated goals for new hybrids, plug-in hybrids and EVs by 2012.
