Project Nomad Concept Car a Throwback to Epic Hollywood Genre

Reading up on RCA's 2009 graduates led me to another dynamite concept, this one from a student at Sweden's Umea Institute of Design named Jason Battersby.

The Nomad is your ride, which according to Battersby, would move much like the powerful beast of burden she resembles, and have controls similar to those found on a motorcycle …

Armed with an onboard GPS, the Nomad is not an urban vehicle; she's more of an off-road, 4-on-the-floor quadriped …

But the best part, the magical stroke of Battersby's imaginative concept, is the Nomad's fuel source: the surrounding vegetation.

Now, if you're my age, the Nomad is bringing you a special sort of joy right now because it's summoning up—without a hint of disparagement, in either direction—those glorious epic fantasy flicks you generally only got to see in a clandestine viewing on some other kid's set-top cable box: Conan the Barbarian, Hawk the Slayer, The Sword and the Sorcerer, and the one I thought of instantly when I saw the Nomad:
