Hollywood in a 3-way Race to Make John DeLorean Biopic

A broad number of entertainment sources ranging Delorean from MTV movie blogs to Monsters and Critics to Slashfilm.com and a host of others are reporting on Hollywood's mad dash to make a feature-length biopic of legendary auto executive John DeLorean. Those in competiton include:

--James Toback (the haunting, if star-struck Tyson) and Brett Ratner (X-Men: The Last Stand);

--Time Inc. Studios and XYZ Films, using material from both Time and Fortune magazines and an unpublished memoir by DeLorean himself, among other sources;

--One based on the rights owned by DeLorean’s attorney Mayer Morganroth.

I blogged and boasted about John DeLorean a number of months ago. The guy was so much more than the vehicle that was his namesake; he was a rebel car-guy way ahead of his time, one who's sadly missing in Detroit right now. It's hard to believe his dynamite, if ultimately tragic, life story hasn't reached the big screen yet.
