Consumer Reports Chooses Chevrolet Avalanche As Its Top Pick Pickup

Consumer Reports has chosen the Chevrolet Avalanche full-size sport utility truck as its Top Pick honoree from among all of the 2009 pickups. Top Picks are the best all-around vehicles in their categories and have to satisfy CR's road test, safety and reliability requirements.

"The Chevrolet Avalanche full-sized crew cab ($36,000 to $47,000) is one of the most versatile and comfortable pickups that Consumer Reports has tested," according to the magazine. Its unified bed and cab gives it both a solid feel and a quite, comfortable ride. Its innovative partition, between the cab and the bed, can be folded to enable longer cargo to lie in the back of the cab.

The Avalanche pickup was the only American vehicle chosen in the 10 categories that comprise CR's Top Picks.

In the award contest, the Avalanche replaced the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 crew cab, which was last year's pickup trucks Top Pick.
