Better Air-Bag Technology

Over the past decades, car makers have made great advances in safety features, first for front seat occupants and more recently for those in the rear. Three point seat-belts are more or less standard in the rear compartment, as are head restraints. Curtain airbags are also becoming standard equipment in most cars to give additional protection when the car is hit from the side. But how can you protect the rear seat occupants from damaging each other in a crash? Toyota has come-up with a great solution!

They have invented a new, center-position, rear-seat, air bag which drops down from a roof mounted console. This air bag drops down from the ceiling during a side impact to minimize injuries that can occur when occupants are thrown against each other. Toyota announced that this new air bag will come out this year on a domestic market Toyota vehicle.
