Tonight, call up Yellow Cab and go green
If you're out celebrating Cinco de Mayo tonight, make sure to grab a cab that's good for the air (even if you're not being so good to your liver). Right now on the streets in Long Beach, California, we are hailing a Yellow Cab Co-Op gone green, in the form of a Toyota Prius.
Check your local cab companies before you hit the bars—chances are you'll find a hybrid vehicle running in many major cities. In places such as New York, Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco you'll find Ford Escape Hybrids (big enough to carry a whole crew of people) and Nissan Altima hybrids as well. In fact, by 2012, New York will require that all taxis get at least 30 mpg.It makes sense for a taxi, considering how much time they spends idling.
