A while back I did a blog telling about how the main marketing emphasis is on design, because all of the operating performance measures such as milage, etc are the same in most cars. So if the main things are the same, why should I spend and arm and a leg on design, especially in todays economy?

Like the good book says,"There is nothing new under the sun." There are always people who will pay more for status. Whether that status is having the newest, the nicest, the most expensive, the whatever. And once someone buys the first one well you know. "What, I'll let him have a better car than me? Then If you want to be in the group, you need one too. And if its hard for you to afford it, well, you don't want people to think that you're a bum, so go into debt to keep up the image.

And that's how America got to where it is today!
