Chrysler Closing PlantsIn a stunning move that shows just how bad things have gotten, both Chrysler and Ford have decided to temporarily close production plants for at least a month.

Chrysler said it would extend the normal two-week holiday shutdown that begins Friday to at least Jan. 19 at all 30 of its factories due to slumping sales. Some employees haven't even bought Holiday gifts yet due to the uncertainty.
