A Taste of Things to Come
In a stunning move that shows just how bad things have gotten, both Chrysler and Ford have decided to temporarily close production plants for at least a month.
Chrysler said it would extend the normal two-week holiday shutdown that begins Friday to at least Jan. 19 at all 30 of its factories due to slumping sales. Some employees haven't even bought Holiday gifts yet due to the uncertainty.
Although the situation is dire, it stands to get a lot worse and don't think the bail out money (if and when it appears) will be able to save anything. It might just be enough to help the Big 3 teeter along for a little while longer.
