Ford Will Offer ELectric Commercial Vans By 2010
Ford is set to produce a line of EV Commercial Vans in America. While at first glance this seems exciting and should give room for those who have disdain for the not so Big 3 to change their minds, there is more to this that reveals this is no big revolution.
Presently Ford has a fleet of commercial vans in Europe. This fleet is called the Transit Connect Van and it is this very Van that Ford is planning on electrifying. It is not ultimately huge, yet is aerodynamic and will be easy to electrify by the target date. Like I said: Not a big deal.
Either Ford is just trying to do enough to goad the gov't into throwing it a lifeline or it really thinks that this is where the technology is at. Either way I feel Ford is just copping out!
