Hybrid Car Advantages
With gas prices now more than $4 per gallon, many people are likely considering buying a hybrid car. The sticker price may be higher than a comparable gasoline-only vehicle, but there are advantages.
Better gas mileage
Since a hybrid car runs on electric power part of the time, the overall gas mile is far better than a car with a standard internal combustion engine, upwards of 50 mpg.
Better for the environment
When the car is running on electric power, no CO and other greenhouse gas emissions are coming from the car, which makes for a cleaner environment.
Many states offer tax incentives to buyers of hybrid vehicles.
Some states allow hybrid vehicles to ride in HOV lanes with just one person inside. Others offer free parking at parking meters or preferred parking.
